With a view to realign goverment of Canada's goal with labour market needs, Mr. Jason  Kenney, Honorable Minister of  Citizenship, Immigration  and  Multiculturalism has  announced an  action plan for  faster  immigration for  the  year 2009, which  presently  includes  only  38 Professions. This  is  applicable  to  those  clients  who  applied  on or after Feb 27, 2008.  Skilled Workers  from this  professions  will  reached  canada between  6 to  12 months as against  the  present  processing  time  of  4 to  6 years. 

Please note  that  this  is  not final  and  professions  will keep getting added-subtracted on a regular basis.

Age
Your  Points  score is  calculated based  on  your  age  on  submittion  of  the  application.


Education
a lot  of  stress has  been  laid  on t he  academic  qualifications of  the  applicant. People with higher education and  good  skills earned more  points.


Language Ability
Maximum  points  are  awarded for  the  first  language i.e English (English or  French  for  Canada) for  its  high  proficiency .  In  case  of  Canada, Additional  points  are  awarded  for  higher level  of  proficiency in the  seciond  national  language  of  Canada. i.e English/ French. Knowledge of  french  is  also  essential  for  Quebec Provincial  Nominee Program.


Work  Experience
The  Canada  Immigration  point system wants individuals with  at  least 1 to  4 years of  full-time  experience.


Adaptability
If your spouse/common-law has  gained  education till  post  secondary  level, you could  earned  additional points. This  is  only  applicable  under skilled worker  category.


Relatives  in  Canada
If  you and  your  spouse/common-law  have  a  relative  in  Canada then  you  can  get  additional points (relative maybe  parents, grand-parents, child, siblings, aunt/uncle, niece of  nephew who  is  residing in Canada and  is  a  Canadian  Citizen  or  Permanent Resident).


Arranged Employment
You  earned  additional  points  if  you  have  a  job  offer approved by  the  Human Resources Development  Canada (HRDC)


Settlement  Funds 
A certain  amount  of  funds  are required to  be  shown  at the  port  of  entry in  to  Canada to  established  that  the  immigrant  will  not  become  a public  liability. This is  also  considered as a security  money that you need  to  determined by  the  size of  your  family as can  be  seen  in  the  table  bellow

If your occupation presently does not inluded on  the  preferred occupation list for  Canada, we need to  reassure you  that you  can qualify for  Canada if you  or your  spouse have  any experience for  one year under any  of  the 38 professions and  balance of  the experience is under the  NOC's falling  into category '0', 'A', or 'B'. In  addition, in case you  obtain an arranged employment offer (AEO) throughyour friends/ relatives/ colleagues to get Work  Permit or  are residing/have  resided in  Canada for one  year on  a  legal work  permit or  has an international student can  also qualify.
